Hewlett-Packard has launched its ImagePoint Hx multi-specialty digital ultrasound system, with harmonic imaging, ultraband transducers and image-management tools. The Hx follows the ImagePoint, launched in 1996 and is aimed at general imaging in hospitals and clinics. At the same time Acuson is introducing its DICOM-based ViewPro-Net image review software package. The Mountain View, California-based company's echocardiogram network software is claimed to be superior to videotape within the budget of an entry-level network.
