Executive Summary
Computer Motion's endoscopic ZEUS surgical robot has been used to perform what it claimed to be the first robot-assisted multivessel heart bypass procedure. Doctors at the University Grosshadern in Munich, Germany, who performed the double bypass graft, used the voice-controlled ZEUS system to sew bypass vessels onto the blocked arteries, through tiny ports. Previous bypass procedures using robotics assistance have been limited to one vessel, said the Santa Barbara-California-based company.
