Executive Summary
Spectrofluoroscopy can be used to detect precancerous polyps in the colon and may eliminate the need to carry out biopsies, says Dr Andrew Warner, a gastroenterologist at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington, Massachusetts. So far 24 patients have been examined with the technique, which relies on reflected ultraviolet light, in a pilot study being carried out at the clinic.
