Wyeth-Ayerst Laboratories, manufacturer of the Norplant implantable contraceptive device, has warned physicians, distributors and others that devices sent out after October 1999 may be ineffective and should not be implanted. The warning is another blow for the product whose history is marred by health-related lawsuits.
