Executive Summary
The US Health Care Financing Administration (HCFA) notice of intent to publish Medicare coverage criteria is "fundamentally flawed and would ultimately restrict patient access to lifesaving and life enhancing medical tests and treatments." That was the view of AdvaMed president Pamela Bailey in formal comments posted on June 30. The association goes on nevertheless to salute HCFA for embarking on the initiative, while voicing strong reservations about the notice, which, it says, HCFA "should withdraw".
