Executive Summary
A review into current practice in medical device cleaning and sterilisation in England has been completed. It is due to be published in August or September, a Department of Health (DoH) spokesperson told Clinica. It was conducted by National Health Service (NHS) Estates, an executive agency of the DoH. The need for further policy, advice and guidance will be reviewed in the light of its findings. The DoH issued a circular to NHS hospital trusts in August 1999, emphasising the importance of implementing existing guidance on medical device decontamination.
