Executive Summary

Studies on the quality of blood collected and processed by Transfusion Technologies' Chairside Separator System showed that the survival of red blood cells stored for 42 days exceeded the FDA's minimum of 75%, announced the Natick, Massachusetts-based company. The studies of the system, which automates the collection and separation of blood at the point of collection, were carried out at Dartmouth Hitchcock Memorial Hospital and the Mid-Atlantic Blood Services Region of the American Red Cross.
