Executive Summary
Sparta Surgical has signed a letter of intent to buy "all, or substantially all" of the Weck Electrosurgical business from Teleflex subsidiary Weck Closure Systems. Weck designs, manufactures and markets a range of monopolar and bipolar electrosurgical forceps, reusable and disposable coagulation suction tubes, bipolar cords, pads and electrodes for use during tissue cutting and cauterisation. Sparta, of Concord, California, says the acquisition of Weck, with 1999 turnover of $3.9 million, will approximately double its size.
