Executive Summary
Calypte Biomedical's founder and chief scientific officer, Dr Howard Urnovitz, and its chairman, William Boeger, have set up a new company to examine new methods to detect aberrant genes in patients with chronic diseases. The new company, Chronix Biomedical, will be financed independently. Alameda, California-based Calypte, which makes HIV-related tests, will retain the rights to any urine-based diagnostic tests resulting from the research at Chronix. Dr Urnovitz and Mr Boeger will retain their current positions at Calypte.
