Telemedicine offers the possibility of linking hospitals and specialist practices to offer a more supportive healthcare system to the doctor. Remote districts and outlying settlements cannot gain ready access to large and expensive equipment and in their cases telemedicine is deemed invaluable. These were the findings of a "telemedicine workshop" this month in the German state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
