Executive Summary
Medwave's noninvasive device for continuously monitoring blood pressure (BP) could potentially be used to monitor BP in children over four years of age, a US study has revealed. The Vasotrac device, which is FDA-cleared for use on adults only, produced readings that agreed well with oscillometric cuff readings, according to the 74-patient study. However, the St Paul, Minnesota-based company does not recommend using its device in children until clinical validation has been completed.
