Levels of radioactivity rise in Germany:

Executive Summary
The level of radioactivity exposure in Germany rose marginally during 1999, from around 4.4 Millisievert to 4.5 Millisievert per person. The department for protection against radiation (BfS) stated in its yearly report that natural radiation levels, which include exposure from sources such as foodstuffs, the earth, the atmosphere and the gas radon, remained stable at 2.4 Millisievert. Levels of unnatural exposure rose just over two Millisievert. The department acknowledges that this rise was, in part, due to an increased use of X-rays in medical diagnoses (see Clinica No 928, p 6).
