Designers of medical devices and diagnostics will soon find that they have greater and easier access to protection for their designs. The European Council of Ministers adopted on December 12 a regulation introducing a single EU system for the protection of designs. This will replace the current system, where designs have to be registered separately in every member state where protection is sought.
