Implants specialist CryoLife, of Atlanta, New Jersey, said it is working with the Minnesota Department of Public Health, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the FDA to investigate a small cluster of knee surgery deaths in Minnesota. Last week, reports of the death of three patients within a short period who had presented similar symptoms sparked fears of a common causal link (see Clinica No 987, p 13).
