Executive Summary
Over a third of sharps injuries occur around non-use of the sharp, ie among health workers other than the original users. This and other findings to emerge from the latest survey of such incidents across England, Wales and Scotland, are considered to have serious implications for changes in practice, notably the adoption of needlesafe technology. It comes as the European medical devices industry association, EUCOMED, is seeking to raise the profile of the issue.
