A report published last month in Saudi Arabia says that the number of patients undergoing kidney dialysis is increasing by 15% a year. There are currently 6,694 dialysis patients in the country and treating them costs a total of SR660 million ($176 million). Saudi Arabia also has 13 advanced kidney transplant centres carrying out transplants at a cost of about SR50,000 per procedure compared with SR500,000 charged to carry out these operations abroad, reports Arab News.
