Executive Summary
If Germany is to adhere to the stringent timetable of the DRG (Diagnosis Related Groups) system and be ready in 2007, it may be necessary to incorporate Australian relative values for certain procedures, says federal health secretary Dr Klaus Theo Schroder. Speaking at Medica 2001 in Dusseldorf last month, Dr Schroder made it clear, however, that this did not mean that if a DRG could not be adapted to suit the German model, then the Australian relative value would immediately be employed.
