A device that uses a low-heat delivery method to bond soft tissue has shown positive results in a clinical trial to assess its use in bowel reconstruction and repair surgery. The tissue bonding device, developed by US firm Consortium Service Management Group (CSMG), enabled surgeons to reliably bond the large intestine, and to do a haemostatic bond before anastomosing and bringing the intestine down, without using needles, sutural materials, staples or other foreign matter, says the Corpus Christi, Texas firm. The surgery was performed in Ukraine, where the device has marketing approval.
