Executive Summary
R&D expenditure by Korean medical device, optical equipment, precision and measurement companies has remained above 5% of sales in each of the last three years, says the ministry of sciences and technology. The multi-industy survey data, reported in Pharma Koreana and spanning the period 1995-2000, showed that medical device companies were the highest investors in R&D in 2000. The survey also highlights the relatively high level of spending by smaller companies, which currently account for 83% of medical device R&D expenditure.
