Fischer Imaging has become the second company to gain US market approval for a full-field digital mammography (FFDM) system. The only other company with an FDA-approved FFDM device is GE Medical Systems (GEMS), which has enjoyed a reign of around 20 months as the sole firm with permission to sell the technology in the US.
