Executive Summary
EMS Medical, based in Konstanz, Germany, hopes to begin selling its endoscopic, ballistically-driven cement removal system for extracting non-cemented hip and knee components, following a successful multicentre European study. The Swiss OrthoClast system has been sold worldwide for more than a year for safely and effectively removing cement during implant revision procedures. The new indication - removal of porous coated components such as hip cups and stems and knee prostheses - will likely be available in June. The company is looking for a US distributor.
