US team improves breast-implant procedure:

This article was originally published in Clinica

Executive Summary

A new antibiotic solution could help reduce or prevent breast implants from hardening, a common risk associated with cosmetic and reconstructive breast-implant surgery that might cause pain and interfere with mammography. Developed by researchers from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, the solution inhibits all bacterial growth from organisms commonly found around breast implants. Early results from an ongoing 125-patient trial of the product have shown positive results, according to the team, which reported its findings in the January issue of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
