Germany's new fee scale for reimbursing laboratory tests is having a negative impact on the country's declining laboratory diagnostics sector, says the German diagnostics manufacturers association, VDGH. The new regulations, introduced in July 1999, subject basic and special laboratory services to budgetary restraints which have to be followed by the prescribing doctor (see Clinica No 851, p 7).
