A US team has cast doubt over the use of vascular closure devices for sealing arterial punctures following percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI). Arteriotomy closure devices (ACDs) are associated with higher vascular complication rates than traditional manual compression, according to the first "real world" study of ACDs, published in the September issue of the Journal of the American College of Cardiology.
