Spain presses need for earlier HIV diagnosis

Executive Summary
A third of all new HIV-AIDS cases and over a half of all new sexually-transmitted cases in Spain in 2000 were diagnosed too late to be treated in time to halt the development of AIDS symptoms or to take preventive measures. In the light of these findings, the health ministry is calling for more frequent testing for the condition, and not only among high-risk groups.
