Positive sentinel lymph node (SLN) biopsy results should prompt full axillary dissection, says Canada's steering committee for the care and treatment of breast cancer, in its latest guidance on SLN biopsy. Among the committee's nine recommendations are calls for SLN biopsy not to be carried out in women with clinically palpable nodes, locally advanced breast cancer, multifocal tumours, previous breast surgery or previous irradiation of the breast.
