£2.5 million to raise UK endoscopy standards:

Executive Summary

The UK National Health Service is to receive £2.5 million ($3.55 million) over the next three years with the aim of improving training in gastrointestinal endoscopy. The funding, confirmed this week by the National Cancer Director, Professor Mike Richards, is expected to provide training to some 660 by 2004. The project aims to improve the diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal cancer, as set out in the national cancer plan, announced in the national plan in July 2000 (see Clinica No 919, pp 1-2).
