Some 70% of medical apparatus and 25% of surgical devices are now manufactured within Iran, said Mohammad Farhadi, the Iranian minister of health and medical education, in his opening address at the 7th international fair of medical, hospital equipment and pharmaceutical industries (IRAN MED) in Teheran last month. These products generate an income of $400 million in Iran, whereas a budget of $200 million is allocated for imports.
