Executive Summary
Agfa Medical Imaging's Impax R4 Enterprise wide picture PACS system is to be installed this autumn in the newly-built A&E department at Blackpool Victoria Hospital. The PACS, with a web 1000 server, will be rolled out to cover the whole hospital over an 18-month period, enabling the Lancashire hospital to achieve its "filmless" target by 2003. The system, which cost £2 million ($2.8 million) and will be paid over seven years, can cope with 185,000 examinations annually.
