Executive Summary
Dr Ibrahim Abdul Hadi, director of the Kuwaiti health ministry's medical insurance department, has revealed that the country's health insurance scheme now covers some 750,000 expatriates. In an interview with the Al-Seyassah newspaper, he said that expatriates' employers contributed KD50 ($168) to the scheme, while the expatriate himself was required to make a contribution of KD40 for a dependent spouse and KD30 for a child. Dr Hadi also said that during its next session the medical insurance committee would discuss the possibility of contacting expatriates who were outside the scheme because their residency was renewed before the scheme was implemented.
