Executive Summary
The Philipps University Clinic in Marburg is to house the state of Hesse's first epilepsy centre. The clinic was selected because, since 1997, it has been co-operating with other clinics and departments in order to develop a comprehensive care programme for victims of epilepsy. Minister for social afairs Marlies Mosiek-Urbahn (CDU) said: "This fills a void and provides better diagnostic and therapeutic possibilities for sufferers." Previously epilepsy patients were required to travel outside the state to undergo treatment, and were placed on a waiting list for up to two years.
