Executive Summary

Guidant has CE-marked its smallest stent for sale in Europe. The Multi-Link Pixel 2mm coronary stent system is now available for treating abrupt or threatened abrupt arterial closures. The clearance also allows Guidant to market two larger versions of the device as a treatment for the same indications. The 2.25mm and 2.5mm products were approved in Europe last year for treating first-time coronary blockages only. The company has filed for approval in the US for all three sizes of the stent.
