Executive Summary
Spain's over-the-counter medical devices will soon have to be priced in both euros and pesetas, under a royal decree that came into force on March 18. All reimbursable pharmaceutical products and medical devices and accessories sold to the public must display both currencies within four months of the approval of the decree - i.e. by July 18. The initiative is aimed at promoting knowledge of the euro, ahead of full adoption of the European single currency on March 1 2002, when the peseta ceases to be legal tender.
