New Zealand's ministry of health is to implement a health information management and technology plan (HIMTP) that will examine the current state and future needs of New Zealand's health information. It will focus especially on issues such as data and systems capability, privacy, electronic health records and sector investment. The plan will provide the health and disability sector with a three to five year agenda for the management of health information, says Dr Karen Poutasi, New Zealand's director general of health. David Caygill will chair the HIMTP.
