Two French associations representing ultrasound practitioners are threatening that their members will stop obstetric examinations as liability fears grow over the non-detection of abnormalities (see Clinica No 947, p 3). Increased insurance premiums are on the horizon in the light of three legal cases concerning children whose handicaps were not detected during antenatal ultrasound procedures.
