Executive Summary
The Danish Council for Ethics has agreed to allow the use of stem cells in therapeutic cloning. A majority decision agreed to restrict research into the possibility of therapeutic cloning, so that only fertilised eggs left over during infertility treatment are used. The council has, however, categorically rejected any moves towards reproductive cloning, labelling it as highly unethical. Jesper Poulsen, head of the Danish association of doctors (Laegeforeningen), agrees with this measure, and welcomed the decision on therapeutic cloning.
