NHS (National Health Services) gets major cash injection for cancer, coronary R&D (Research and Development)

Executive Summary
The NHS has been awarded £479 million ($700 million) to support its R&D in 2001-02. Cancer and coronary heart disease are among the key areas earmarked for what amounts to a 6.6% year-on-year increase. The cash, available from April, will also be used to fund health technology assessment by the National Institute for Clinical Excellence.
