Executive Summary
Long-term cognitive decline following coronary artery bypass (CABG) surgery is sufficiently common to justify interventions to prevent it, a US study has found. Researchers at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina, carried out standard tests of cognitive function on 261 patients about to undergo CABG and repeated them periodically for up to five years.
