Executive Summary
The sale of Hanger Orthopedic's manufacturing division, Seattle Orthopedic Group, to Otto Bock Orthopedic Industry will not go ahead because Otto Bock cannot get the necessary financing on acceptable terms. The two companies announced the proposed $75 million deal in November (see Clinica No 934, p 10). Separately, Bethesda, Maryland-based Hanger is realigning its patient care branches in order to reduce annual expenses by around $8 million.
