Executive Summary
All neonates in France will be tested for cystic fibrosis by 2002 at a cost to the state health insurance of Fr13 million ($1.9 million) a year. Some 800,000 babies will be screened when they are three or four days old. Testing programmes will begin this year to diagnose the one in every 3,500 births affected by the disease.
