Executive Summary
Shire Pharmaceuticals subsidiary CADx Medical Systems of Laval, Quebec, has merged with its R&D partner, Beavercreek, Ohio-based Qualia Computing. The new group, which will be based in Beavercreek, is called CADx Systems. Shire will retain a large stake. Qualia founder Steve Rogers, who pioneered CADx's Second Look breast cancer detection system, becomes CEO of the company, which is currently being sued for patent infringement by R2 Technology (see Clinica No 1027, p 16).
