Executive Summary
The director of the Medical Devices Evaluation Office at the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, Taisuke Hojo, has becomes the latest chair of the Global Harmonisation Task Force. He takes over from Souichi Ikegaya, director of evaluation and licensing at the ministry, who retired on August 30 and is therefore no longer in a position to chair the GHTF. Mr Ikegaya had only taken over from the Australian chair, Rita Maclachlan on July 1. Dr Hojo will chair the fifth meeting of the GHTF Steering Committee on October 28-30.
