Computer Motion has gained US FDA clearance to market its Zeus MicroWrist device for use with the firm's Zeus surgical robot system. The MicroWrist device is an interface for the surgeon to use with the Zeus robot during general and laparoscopic surgical procedures. The Zeus system, which has potential for use in 3.3 million surgical procedures performed each year in the US, is also under development for use in coronary artery bypass and laparoscopic radical prostatectomy operations, says the Santa Barbara, California firm.
