Quest Diagnostics has announced that its dialogue with the US Federal Trade Commission regarding its $1.1bn acquisition of Unilab is likely to extend beyond September 30 (see Clinica No 1010, p 20). Teterboro, New Jersey-based Quest would not reveal the nature of the FTC's concerns, but told Clinica that it is hopeful that the transaction will be completed during the fourth quarter of this year.
