Executive Summary
Spanish health minister Ana Pastor has signed an agreement commiting the national government to honour its pre-devolution pledge to finance the E205.84m ($202m) refurbishment of the Marques de Valdecilla hospital in Santander, northern Spain. Of the total budget, E63.94m will be spent in 2003. Plans to honour this commitment were announced in late July 2002 (see Clinica No 1019, p 7). The agreement is valid until the planned completion date of April 31 2007.
