Executive Summary
Access CardioSystems has gained US market clearance for two automated external defibrillators (AEDs) which it claims are cheaper than rival products. The AccessAED and AccessALS AEDs are "clinically advanced devices", which, when equipped with electrodes and battery, weigh just 2.8lbs and measure only 3.0" x 7.3" x 4.3", says the Concord, Massachusetts firm. They offer a substantial financial value when compared to devices offered from Philips, Medtronic Physio-Control, Zoll Medical and Cardiac Science, claims the company. In many cases, says the firm, customers budgeting for one of these devices are now able to purchase two Access CardioSystems' devices.
