Executive Summary
Centerpulse has seen its net income before exceptional items more than double to SFr94.8m ($63m) in the first six months of 2002, with sales up 6% to SFr766.4m. The company, which has spent much of the past 18 months attempting to settle litigation relating to faulty hip and knee products, has also made personnel changes. These are aimed in part at managing the company's planned divestment of the cardiac and vascular divisions, which it hopes to achieve by the end of this year.
