Executive Summary

Quest Diagnostics has extended the expiry date for its offer to buy Unilab, as discussions with the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) are taking "longer than had been expected", the company says. The two companies received a request for additional information from the FTC during the second quarter. Teterboro, New Jersey-based Quest continues to believe that the transaction, originally valued at $1.1bn, is not anti-competitive.
