Executive Summary
Claims by the chairman of the German guild's statutory health insurance fund (IKK), Gernot Kiefer, that an estimated 20% of doctors' receipts are fraudulent (see Clinica No 1020, p 6) have infuriated doctors' associations across the country. The regional association of statutory health insurance physicians in North Wurttemberg (KV NW) last week brought charges against Mr Kiefer at the Cologne department of public prosecution, accusing him of defaming the doctors' profession.
