Executive Summary
The Al Shafar Constructing Company has signed a contract with the New Medical Centre Group of Hospitals (NMC) to construct a hospital in the Al Nahda area of Dubai at a cost of Dh65m ($17.7m). NMC managing director Bavaguthu Shetty said that the new hospital would mean that fewer people would be sent to the UK and US for treatment. Meanwhile the existing NMC hospital in Dubai last week received a new MRI machine at a cost of $1.5m. The machine, a Philips Panorama Open MRI system, is the first of its kind in the Middle East. It allows the patient to move in an open space setting and by avoiding a tunnel construction, it is ensures complete comfort for anxious or claustrophobic patients, doctors said.
